Grass Concept - SZ

These concepts are based off the flavour Lemonade. 

The grass background brings a bright green to the packaging (green and blue drinks trick the brain into thinking they are more refreshing), which differentiates from the blue used by almost all other water companies. 

The Grass also has a homegrown feel, linking it to NZ product. It also has a natural, organic vibe and connects to outdoors and sports.

The hand drawn typeface, Billy, also has an organic quality with its rounded edges. It is almost child-like yet legible. It is more fun then a regular sans serif. It is also nostalgic, being hand drawn.

Inspiration

Concept

This "cool" lemon is wearing ray bans, which is nostalgic to the 80s but also was re-popularized recently. It is cartoon but not childish in style. The photographic background juxtaposed with the illustrated lemon is nostalgic to films like who framed Roger Rabbit, space jam, and rocky and bullwinkle, even a episode of the simpsons which aired in the 90s. This is used in the form of CGI characters nowadays, although they are able to be made to look real because of advances in technology.

Iteration

This uses a real Lemon with cartoon features. Keeping with the theme of authentic and natural, maybe the fruit needs to be real but maintain that playful cartoon features

Crazy Straw - SZ

Inspiration

Idea

How awesome does a twirling brightly coloured crazy straw inside a bottle look?! This idea is to make water appear more fun. It would be even more awesome if somehow the straw could change colours as the liquid is sucked through it.

Iteration - Crazy Straw Glasses/Props

Inspiration

Idea

Combines the Selfie glasses idea and the crazy straw idea. The different flavours could come with props that clip on the glasses that are trade-able, and have different shaped glasses. props could include different moustaches and lips. Glasses shapes could be round, square, star, heart, or cat.

These props could be attached to the straw inside the bottle, viewable through a window in the packaging. The prop could be extracted either by the child finishing the water or by removing the lid and pulling the straw out of the water.

It appears that with long straws there is a mechanism in the sipper end which does not allow the water to drain from the straw. this would solve the issue of the child not being able to suck hard or long enough to get the water through the elaborate design of the straw.

Idea

The Shapes would be inside the bottle rather than out of it. This could possibly be more interesting to children then just the spiral in different colours.

Create a Story - SZ

Idea

I shared this idea with Jose from one of the other groups. He told me his group was planning to make little mystery figures which came with their drink which children could write backstories for. 

I suggested maybe that instead of figures or supplementary to them they make collectible, trading cards which facilitate a random story (where you buy the figures and their character cards perhaps by buying plain water, and you get Locations, actions and object cards from buying different flavours).

Iteration - Collector Cards + Virtual Character

Inspiration

Pokemon has been a big thing for 21 years. They have a variety of creatures so they appeal to both genders and a huge age bracket. The cute big eyed baby versions appeal to females and the more evolved monster like ones appeal to males.

Idea

The drink could come with a mystery character card under the label, in a foil packet. It could include a code to be imputed into the app which would be used on tablets, since children are now required to have them for school.

These cards could be traded if you got double ups, but the main focus would be on the online game which you could level up your characters by using them. It would have a silhouette sheet of some kind to show the children which characters are available to be found, this would encourage repeat purchasing to collect them all.

Selfie Props - SZ

Idea

Each flavour could have a different type of prop on it (i.e lips, glasses, moustache, speech/thought bubbles you can write on, hats, eyes, animal ears). These could be mystery and peel off so you can put them on a stick. or they could be like the example above and used through the water bottle. Selfies are a huge phenomenon currently and appeal to all ages and possibly both genders. These props are a fun way to make them more interesting. These could also have codes that unlock digital versions, like snapchat filters.

Glitter/Snow Globe Drink Bottles - SZ

Inspiration

Idea

A double walled, snow globe-esque bottle with glitter, or some type of thick dye that returns to the bottom of the bottom and can be shaken to stir it up. These will be drink bottles and the flavours will be something you add to the bottle rather than a bottled water.

A double walled bottle which is optional to keep or recycle. It could have a shape inside where the liquid sits. or an image printed inside it.
